Update:  May 7, 2025

Water Quality Testing Update – B.A. Parker Public School & Geraldton Composite High School

We are writing to provide an update regarding the recent water quality testing at B.A. Parker Public School and Geraldton Composite High School.

As shared previously, both schools have been working closely with officials to review water quality following the observation of discoloured water on April 30, 2025. We would like to inform you that water testing has now been completed, and we are currently awaiting the results.

As a precaution, drinking water service will continue to be temporarily disrupted. Potable drinking water will remain available to all students and staff throughout the school day. All other water services within the schools remain fully operational.

We recognize the importance of clear and timely communication and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we prioritize the health and safety of our school communities.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your school's administration team.

MARATHON, Ontario – The ²Ýݮֱ²¥ (²Ýݮֱ²¥) is currently working with appropriate officials to conduct a review of the water quality at B.A. Parker Public School and Geraldton Composite High School.  This action follows the observation of water discolouration on April 30, 2025.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Board has implemented a temporary disruption to the drinking water supply at both schools.  Potable drinking water is being provided for students and staff beginning immediately.  All other water services within the schools, including those used for handwashing, dishwashing, and restrooms, remain operational and safe for use.

“Our priority is the health and safety of students and staff,” said Will Goodman, Director of Education at ²Ýݮֱ²¥.  “We are committed to keeping our school communities informed and to taking all necessary precautions while the water quality review is underway.”

The Board will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as new information becomes available.  ²Ýݮֱ²¥ thanks families, staff and the broader community for their patience and cooperation.
